Building standards-centric consulting capabilities
As a Royal Charter company, the client had both statutory responsibilities and some commercial freedom. A concept of offering standards-centric consulting on a commercial basis had been in place for some time but was not being realised. The engagement was to achieve this with the target of establishing the offerings, design and recruitment of a consulting practice.

Achievements
· Defined 20 areas of opportunity for consulting services, later focused to 6 that could be introduced to market with good offering differentiation and credible references and support within group
· Built business case and go-to-market approach to launch with key sectors e.g. Smart Cities
· Identified and recruited permanent Head of Consulting and handover to 2019 operational planning
outcomes
· Achieved first consulting sale of £1.1m in 2018 and opportunity pipeline of over £7m identified
· Clear roadmap delivered for development of consulting practice
· Organisation design completed and restructuring of division implemented to permit capacity for growth in 2019
